8 Days

I am sitting in the shade of the deck, our Ferndale house, sipping prosecco in the heat of the afternoon and listening to music. I had the boys all day, they were sweet to each other and to me. It feels like a summer Friday, and what more could I ask for?
Will's on his way home, or maybe not quite yet. But soon enough. The sun is up for hours yet, and it's hot! It's been hot for what feels like forever. At this time next week we will be done our rehearsal, and heading to our rehearsal dinner. I will be anticipating the next morning, hoping I sleep well, and spending time with everyone I love.
There's been stress lately, but nothing to do with the wedding. Everything will happen just as it should. I really only think about walking down the aisle, reading my words. I read them to James today, he made funny faces but listened to it all. I almost cried just saying it out loud. I think they're done. I might tweak them next week… I need to write them down on paper. Maybe typed, I don't know.
So, future self, remember how hot it's been, how it's been the best summer ever and it's just begun. I have a sneaking suspicion that next summer might even top this one…maybe. ;)
Remember the anticipation, the conversations, the reminiscing. We've both changed over the last year, and I am happier than ever. Remember the evenings before kids, the relaxation and beach days. Remember how excited we are for beach days with our kids. For sailing, adventures, watching them learn.

1 Whole Year?

How did almost an entire year go by without me signing on here? No wonder I couldn't remember my password. This year is building up to be amazing. External stress (unnecessary), but it will all fade away. Last year was fairly amazing. Too much to sum up all at once, and maybe I'll just look forward.
Two big things did happen in December though…On December 24th Will proposed at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, and Quynne's water broke. Alexander was born at 6:33 a.m. on the 26th, and we will be getting married this summer. Weddings bring out the crazy in people.

Oh yeah, we went to the East Coast. Halifax to Lunenburg, to White Point, to P.E.I., back to Lunenburg back to Halifax.

I shot Jayne and Kevin's engagement photos and will be photographing their wedding in August. I can't wait!

We celebrated 11 years on Saltspring in the beginning of December.

And Quynne had two baby showers!
