The Wind...

The wind picks up at night. It is loud, and blustery, and the clouds move very fast through the sky.
It's been cold, freezing actually.
Today we spoke at a conference, maybe I can find the footage, although I'm not sure I want to see it.
I have discovered a new passion, and I am excited to see what kind of path I make for myself. I don't think that there's anything out there quite like this yet, and I hope to be the one to create it. Connections are the most important, that's what I'm realizing. I don't really want to put it too far out into the world yet, so I will keep it at that for now.

Safari Party

Literacy paper handed in, on to the drama paper, and the Safari Party on Saturday. There's not much time to get everything organized before we go. Now moving on top of it. I'm feeling a bit bah humbug at the moment. But excited all the time. I think Saturday's going to be fun, it's just difficult to sell so many tickets when I don't have a ton of friends who go to clubs. But no matter what we've already done so much. Thinking about all the things I need to do and buy before we go is what's really stressing me out. I really want to take things that are needed and helpful, and be able to take a lot of pictures. I'm also getting excited to see my Mom when I get there. It'll have been six months since I've seen her.

Reading Break

Here I am on reading break again, is it relaxing, laid back, a time to catch up on reading? No. It is not. I am just as busy as ever. Last week was really fun though. On Thursday I stayed at Janna's. I had James there for a bit, took him back to the school, then Janna picked up Jayne and I. We baked brownies and cupcakes for our bake sale on Friday. Janna had cheese and crackers and veggies out for us, then made us this amazing chickpea stew that was delicious. Brianna came over later on and we tried to watch a movie but didn't actually watch any of it. We found out that Anna's coming with us to Ulamba, and I drank over a bottle of wine. I spent the night and Janna took me to school on Friday with all of our baked goods. Again, people were waiting for us. I can't get over how awesome our cohort is. We did pretty well considering that  it was the Friday before reading break and the school seemed empty. We made over $500.00 in combination with our clothing drive. So we are back on track. The silent auction is sneaking up on us though. Ah, I don't even want to think about it right now.
I spent Friday with C&C. We bussed to Camosun because someone forgot their hard drive there. So that took up an hour of our night. I stayed up extra late, then went to school on Saturday. I wrote my essay that was due Sunday, (amazing!) then came home. Sunday I did nothing. I didn't get dressed until after 3 because we were having company. Jayne made an amazing curry, her bro. and his girlfriend came over as well as a friend from up island.
Tomorrow I get to spend V-Day with James, and the dentist. Awesome.

Lately,

I have been writing on paper a lot lately, which means I kind of neglect the blog. But I'm okay with that because what I write on paper and what I write on here have different tones. Yesterday I went to a restitution workshop and I am so glad that I did. I learned so much that I can use in the classroom, but also I felt like I gained personal strength from her tools. Last night we went out with Shahin, Emma, Taylor, and Jayne's cousin and his wife. We went to Heckler's and I laughed non-stop for over an hour and a half. I can't wait to go back with Will. It was one of the best nights with those guys. We now have a lot of inside jokes! Today was supposed to be a Super Bowl Party at Janna's but everyone else bailed, so maybe I'll go to Pure Vanilla for Satya's birthday. We also have dinner at Sarah's tonight which I am looking forward to. It will be nice to get together with all of the girls. I am a bit concerned by all the things due this week. At least reading break is next week. Ahhhh, a whole week off of school. I am looking forward to it.
I've made myself a new planner, and I think that it's the only way to go. I've been on a creative kick lately. Maybe it's just because it's such a great distraction from all the reading I'm supposed to be doing. My other distractor is Kenya. We  will be booking our tickets soon. So far my trip is shaping up to look like this: Vancouver to Nairobi, Nairobi to Kisumu, drive to Ulamba. After teaching I'll go back to Kisumu, maybe have to fly to Nairobi, head to Zanzibar. After about a week in Zanzibar I''ll fly to Dubai to meet up with my Mom, spend a week or so with her then head home. It's going to be crazy. And I'll need three visas. And a lot of immunizations! Ah so much planning to do and I still have to think about school. We're booking our venue for the silent auction and trying to sell tickets to our Safari Party. I am busy!  And rather than be productive right now, I am watching a terrible movie and blogging. Hmm productive. But somehow I get it all done. So I don't stress.
Just for fun a picture I took in the apartment...
