Where did October go? A better question is how did I get all of my assignments done and handed in on time? I have one month of school left before winter break. Ridiculous! Today was peer teaching in P.E. which I was dreading. But, of course, it was fine. The rest of the day was as uneventful as I imagined. J. was so sweet, he was giving me big kisses today. We had lots of fun today. He was Yoda, and adorable. Walking home the kids had begun trick or treating, and the decorated houses looked festive. I never really thought I was in to Halloween, but this weekend dressing up as a zebra was really fun.
Friday we went on the EDSA pub crawl...Saturday I was exhausted. We went to C.&C.'s and carved pumpkins Saturday, and spent Sunday downtown. We went out for breakfast for the first time in months. The whole weekend was relaxing, but seriously unproductive. This week is back to work. I have a presentation to do tomorrow, our science lesson plan, then Wednesday I am teaching at the elementary school. Thursday our Math assignment is due, and Friday we need two EPortfolio reflections done. Ahhh this week is never ending. But next week is reading break! Finally. Now, off to do something productive.

A Letter
Yesterday as I was leaving psychology class, it was the end of a long day. Matt, one of the three men in my cohort stopped me and said he had something for me. I was a bit confused and couldn't figure out what it could possibly be. The week before I had been observing in his daughter's classroom. I asked her if Matt was her Dad, and chatted with her for less than a minute. She wrote me a letter, and sent it with her Dad, with direct instructions. (He wasn't aloud to read it!)
And this is why I want to be a teacher.

Favorite Moments
On Friday I went to C.&C.'s and later went out for a bit with D. & B. The best moment was just before I went into the apartment, I had a cider in hand, the wind was blowing and had the perfect chill to it, and the ocean was gorgeous. It was a beautiful fall evening, and I took a moment for myself. These days I am finding more time to reflect, and do things for myself. It's important I think.
Yesterday we had a girl's night. Pizza, wine and chocolate, combined with relaxing on a comfy chair all evening chatting, perfect.
Today when I went to the pool to workout the sun was shining through the huge skylight. I was warm, and excited to run on the treadmill, and now here I am doing my art questions. I will finish my essay and have it handed in by tonight. Make curry and brown rice, watch a movie, and teach a P.E. lesson tomorrow morning. I will get all of my school work done, and have an awesome Halloween weekend. I am pretty stoked on everything right now. So many good moments to record, but now on to art.

One good turn deserves another...
So I need to begin focussing on the positive, and remember the small moments. Or so I try to tell myself anyways. So one great moment from today, the day before midterms, was studying. Normally it's not that great. But today I went in to get tea, and came out to find four friends sitting in the sun on our beautiful campus soaking up the sun. The weather was gorgeous, there was an interesting art installation behind them of people made of plastic, and it was a great moment. I was so happy to be walking towards them, joining them in studying which quickly turned to chatting. I am so glad that I am in this program at this point in my life. Sometimes I wish that I was done already and teaching, getting into "real life", but this is better.

Port Townsend Boat Show
In September W. and I went to Port Townsend for The Wooden Boat Show. We took the 3 o'clock ferry and did the drive from Port Angeles. W. ate a nasty hot dog, like one from a carnival, covered in tin foil. We saw whales when we were sitting outside. I felt that it was so much better to see them when we weren't out searching for them. They were an unexpected surprise. It was a gorgeous hot weekend.
I kind of wish that we were sleeping in this...
The drive was beautiful. I didn't take any pictures, I was too busy being anxious to make it in time to see Lin and Larry Pardey. We went to their talk on the Friday night, and then to every other one they gave. We were a bit late because it began at 7 but I thought it was at 7:30. They were fantastic. It was awesome to meet them and to listen to people who seem to think similarly to us. We camped in our car in the fairgrounds. The first night was great. We bought a $17 bottle of wine for $7, but it wasn't even worth that. We ate cheddar chips and drank wine in the back of the car. Awesome.
Or this, I would love to live on this boat...
This building wasn't there the last time we went to the boat show. It was W.'s heaven inside. Wood, and gorgeous tools everywhere.
After taking pictures of this boat we met a man who was with his extremely adorable granddaughter who has one of these boats. We hope to see him next year when we go back to the Boat Show.
This is my favourite picture from the weekend. I had such a good time. Lin and Larry were exactly how I pictured them from reading their books. We bought Bull Canyon for ourselves, and one for W.'s parents. I still haven't finished my copy because I am so busy with school. Which is what i should be doing right now!!!
But first I want to try to add a video from this weekend. It was a beautiful night, and I don't want to forget it.
Just mute the sound. Next time I'll be fancy and add music.

The Best Thanksgiving Yet
This past weekend was awesome. The only downside was having to come home alone, but I will survive. I hopped on the bus after class, and was under the impression that L. & D. were going to pick me up, but Jackie was done school early so she was going to pick me up. Guess who decided to surprise me. I had butterflies when I realized that it was W. He made my day. We went to Jackie's for a bit before heading North. We hung out waiting for a guy that D. wanted to buy a car from. The EXACT same car as ours, she bought it. So we went to the house, then to White Spot for dinner.
Saturday we met up with Q. A. and my Dad at the car auction. We hung out with them for a bit then I had to return to my lesson planning hell. I stayed up until midnight creating a delicious caramel apple cheesecake. W. made a brine for the turkey, and took over the turkey cooking all day Sunday. We were woken by the damn beagle next door, which put everyone in a bad mood for about 20 minutes. We had the house to ourselves for a while so we relaxed, and went for a walk to the beach. It was a beautiful day. We made a few trips to the store, but managed to get the turkey in before 1. W. basted it religiously every 45 minutes. It was the best turkey ever!

The highlight of the whole weekend was Walnut the cat bringing me a live bird while I was preparing to have a shower. I screamed as it flew at my head, and W. came and saved me. It was good for entertainment at least!
