Kenya, Here I Come

So this month has been a big one in the life changing department. I moved in with Jayne, began my BEd at University, don't live with W., and have decided to go to Kenya for my practicum in April. Jayne and I, along with Mel and Sarah, will be heading off together in only a few short months. Our goal is to fundraise over $10,000. This is feeling like an extremely large goal, however, Jayne's friend Anna went 2 years ago with one other girl, and they raised that much. We have started getting things organized. We opened a bank account today, started a blog, and have a ton of fundraising ideas.
On the school front, today we did our first in class seminar. I was in a kindergarten class at a private Catholic school. It was a fantastic experience. The teachers were really welcoming and encouraging. We did story time, helped with duo-tangs and writing. I think we had a more interaction with our students than a lot of other groups.
I am at the panic point in school. But rather than panic I procrastinate. This weekend I have to focus on getting some reading and assignments finished. Jayne's been sick and she's still way more on top of things than I am. In P.E. I was feeling really overwhelmed by all of the things I have to do, but somehow I know it will all get done. Next weekend is Thanksgiving already. I only have 2 months of school before I get a month off. That month off seems a bit extreme. Maybe I can get some work in at CC? I hope so.......
A momentary trip down memory lane, this summer we spent a weekend at C's sister's fiance's parent's summer house. What a mouthful. Anyways, I don't have a lot of pictures from it, so I will post them now. It was an awesome weekend. It was hot, and there was bocce, and kayaking, and tubing, and bbqing, and all the summer events you could ask for.
C. was telling the ocean who's boss,

tire swings never get old,

neither will C.&C.,

beautiful handmade dream catcher,

live music around an epic campfire.
This was one of my favourite camping trips.
I can't wait for the carefree days of summer again. No more assignments! Please...

Blueberries...

One day I hope to have all of my blog posts in chronological order. But for now I will have to make do with my random, unordered posts.
In August we went to our friend's family's organic blueberry farm for a quick visit. It is one of my favourite places in the world. (small secret, I may imagine an important day of my life taking place there!) I took a few pictures to remember how beautiful it is when the blueberries are ripe and delicious.

The fields are huge. That's all blueberries underneath the nets. They really are the most wonderful blueberries I've ever tasted. The whole family is wonderful, which I think rubs off on the berries. Life seems to be more relaxed when you reach the farm. Music is always being recorded, and good food is always on the table.

Busy Busy Busy

School is intense. It doesn't matter how many times people tell you that you'll be busy, or tired, or overwhelmed, until you're in it you can't understand. All summer I told myself to try to enjoy all of my free time, because I knew what I was getting into...Holy man is it crazy. Not only did I begin University this month, I also moved. On to a futon, in a living room, in an apartment that's on a busy loud road. J. is awesome though, and so far it's been great. We are both organized in different ways. So we compliment each other, and so far we are on top of it.
I haven't taken many pictures lately. W. and I went to the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival. W. took the memory card to his parents' house so I haven't put them in the computer yet.
I do have some pictures from when we were moving. I took some during the packing/cleaning/purging process...

and then some from the end of a 10 hour day of load after load to the thrift, and hours of unnecessary cleaning... and bits and pieces.

the beautiful moon that rose in minutes, and was bright orange.

I took a little video, but I'll post that another time. Enough pictures for now, my computer is slow.

Oldies

Since I'm on W.'s parent's computer I don't have any of my pictures. I can't seem to figure out their password for the internet. But, this computer has some ancient (3 years) pictures of our first place in the little city that we now call home. Well, W. won't really be calling it home for the next few months, but it still is our city. So, now for a trip down memory lane...
It was a basement apartment, that was considered 2 bedrooms. The one room was barely an office, and our bedroom only fit our bed.

Our friend was going to move in with us to help with the $1500.00 rent, which was outrageous. But that never happened. Needless to say we moved out after 5 months. I still don't know how we managed to stay that long. I was the only one working for a while, and it was a stressful winter. But worth it to move off of the tiny island we previously called home.

Lily and L. in our front yard. Listening to the storms was great, but one day we came home to a flooded house. Luckily the landlords had come home before us and noticed that water was going under the door. They were shovelling the water out the front door when we came home. Only a box and a few pairs of shoes got wet. Oh, it could have been a disaster.
After that place we moved into Sea Port, then Montview, and now apart. Oh what will Fuhn be like when it's done?
